I’m not exactly sure how to categorize this site…In any case, it is no longer updated.
“Years ago, before most of you even heard the term “internet,” I self-published a hardcopy newsletter titled Pick & Shovel.
It was a newsletter structured for members of the Merchant Marine. I chose the phrase Pick & Shovel so as to align the newsletter with those men and women who swung picks and shovels – those who, so to speak, did the heavy duty work, those on whose back all else rested.
So…I subscribed to a magazine and included a subscription name of Pick & Shovel. Somehow, somewhere, that got typoed to dickshovel. One thing lead to another and the domain name dickshovel.com was born.
Get your minds out of the gutter, folks. This advice is particularly aimed at school teachers who curiously relate to dickshovel for some odd reason.”
